Handbound Compostion Book, cloth cover, library tape spine
In response to another post. I love making rapid composition style books with nice paper for writing (MY GOD! THE GRAIN IS GOING THE WRONG WAY! HOW WILL THE UNIVERSE RECOVER!). I use library tape for the spine, and on this one, old cloth for the cover. I like to paint and collage on the cover as I go along. So I prepared the cover with black tempera paint and gesso, and the rear with greyed out gesso.

Wow fancy! Look at this dude and his rounded corners.
The old cloth for a cover is a neat idea! I may have to make a couple of these and let my partner paint them. This looks great!
I have a few old UCP uniforms. I bet my nephew would love a couple of notebooks with covers that have been all over the world.

Hell, *I* would think that's cool!

I rounded the corners with an antique brass and leather stamping press that only cost $30,000. It only runs on whale oil.

What a deal!
I was looking into a similar press, it ran on seal oil. I just couldn't do it. After all, traveling to Alaska purely to club baby seals a few times a year, is just plain time prohibitive. Obviously, I could buy the oil, but is it actually worth it if you can't do it yourself?

You should see the antique brass, leather and lead club I use to club baby seals. I could use a modern club, but the feel of a genuine, antique club… It clubs just right.

It's not just about feel, a club of that sort has Class. Clubbing baby seals is a Gentlemans activity, no Gentleman would be so gauche as to use inferior implements in their pursuits.
