git: 'gud' is not a git command. See 'git --help'.
The most similar command is add
I feel like you actually ran this to see what it would say the most similar command was lol.
This is literally copy pasted from my terminal
You can make it an alias for something and show it off in your next demo nonchalantly
Interesting. I get: The most similar command is gui
To be clear, not doubting you, just found it weird. Maybe because I don't have anything checked out.
Gonna need git --version from you two haha.
Git mobile?
SSH to my desktop box.
Is.. is git mobile a thing? Asking for a friend.
I guess there are Git clients on mobile e.g. Working Copy
You can use termux
Increasingly odd: colored is ssh, white is termux
If the machine you run it on has a DE (or git4windows), it'll offer you gui. If it's a terminal only install, seems it will default to add.
That would be the logical answer anyways.
EDIT: Non-exhausted thinking would say that git checks for if a GUI is installed, then offers it if so.
Maybe... I am running plasma.
What's hilarious to me is git gui is a broken command, at least on my system
exactly lol
Just put an executable file (binary or script is fine) called git-gud somewhere in $PATH. Now git gud is a valid command.
I have mine take an extra argument to launch whatever game im currently sucking at.
I have aliases bound to git gud and git rekk, the first fetches/pulls updates and the other does a hard reset
Fixed 7 readme typos
Do you claim to NOT know why this happened?
IDK not my problem I'm resigning later anyway
Wow, that’s an extreme reaction to a bad git merge. Or… is it?
I've copied code from my IDE to a text editor, threw away my branch, pulled Master, create new branch, then copy code line by line from text editor back to IDE instead of dealing with a gnarly merge conflict before. I call this the "Nuclear Option".
That's more or less the same as
git merge -s ours
isn't it?
It is, but a shocking number of people don't know any git features beyond the basics you use every day.
Yup. Been there, done that. I’d been at the merge conflict for hours and finally decided to do this. Done in less than 30 mins.
I can definitely see situations where a bad merge would justify quitting your job.
Yeah, me too. Except that if I changed jobs I’d start with nothing when I ctrl-r. Existential crisis.
Wasn't there an enormous outage just last week caused by, essentially, a bad git merge?
*Vsauce music starts*
git push master --force and start your weekend.
Guys why did prod just go down?
It's just flakey unit tests, rerun it a couple times and it'll be fine I think.
By the way, I'm charging an hour for this consultation.
License to kill -9
Jesus, why is everything on the subreddit so cringe now?
Because you are taking things too seriously on a joke subreddit and have inadvertently lost your sense of humour.
Coz for all of your files Owner and group members have no access but everyone else have read write and execute access ?
I recommend copying your code to Google Drive, then deleting all git repos, and then git initing again. Or just stick with Google Drive, the ultimate VCS. I've been using it for years and have never once gotten a merge error.
Came here to say this. If you don't use git it's literally impossible to have a merge conflict
smartmanpointingathead.bmp
Nope, no merge errors here! /s

Moving is normal. There's no point in sticking around in a place that's getting worse all the time. I went to Squabbles.io. I hope you have a good time wherever you end up!

I see you too have both squash merges and merge commits happening on your main branch
Almost spit my drink
silksong reference
I see you've met the Portugese development team I oversaw once.
You are like Bad Luck Bryan. You pull Kelsey Hightowers nocode repo, and you still get merge conflicts.
If 0 lines are added or modified then how can you have merge conflicts? There's nothing to conflict with... Jokes are only funny if they actually make sense.
I'll refer to this comment whenever I feel like I'm taking life too seriously.
Ok idc dude, im just saying the joke doesnt actually make sense...
Is this a place where we make actual jokes about programming? Or just go 'hur durr git hard' and collect easy upvotes?
Absurd humor (or surreal comedy) is the type of humor that revolves around illogical situations, behaviors, and absurd characters that make you laugh simply because they are ridiculous and unexpected.
Just a different approach on getting laughs, my man.
He's using his own old humor package, I think he forgot to update to [email protected]
To answer your question, it was a burst of cosmic rays. Duh bro. Use your imagination!
Just gotta rebase, prolly.
I see that someone does not truly master git.
Fucked up your calls.
Ahh it's the weekend and you're pressing my trauma buttons
ah yes, undergraduate years flashing before my eyes
What not adding a . gitignore does to a repository
As long as you're under 10, you're good to push to production. That's the rule of thumb right?

At the end of the day Friday so you don't have to deal with any prod support for a couple days.

Also make sure it’s right before a branch for release. And it’s best if you’re on vacation the whole next week, and your change is for legacy libraries that are used everywhere
