Vaginas are like earlobes I guess?

So many people don't understand that the vagina is a MUSCLE. It becomes stronger, not weaker, with use.

No muscle can be stretched infinitely. There is a point for both an anus and a vagina where it will start tearing so badly* that it doesn't recover fully. The anus happens to have a lower tolerance, in fact (if I recall correctly) there was an experiment with hamsters and tiny dildos which concluded that the anus can be stretched out by about 33% before starting to take permanent damage. It's hella weird to write this down, but this means that if you relax your anus as much as you can, measure it's diameter, make a dildo about maximum 25-30% thicker, and regularly fuck yourself with it, it should not get looser over time just because of this.
* muscle tearing (at least in skeletal muscle, don't know about smooth muscle) is normal on a microscopic scale for the muscles getting stronger
hamsters and tiny dildos
I remember people talking about this and Richard Gere in the 90s. I kid.
But what a horrible experiment to run. Both for the scientists and the hamsters.
My takeaway from this is that it is likely that vaginas can stretch with use, but that for most women, it would likely take an uncomfortably large object to do so, and no, that doesn’t mean “a guy with a big dick.”
That's a bit too much correct anatomy for me😑. I mean the hamster dildos... Tmi
One has a sphincter, the other does not.
Speaking of bad women's anatomy, they actually both do:
Huh, thanks! That was a really interesting article! I amend my statement thus: the vaginal sphincter and the anal sphincter, while similar, aren’t identical and serve different purposes.
I wish the vagina got looser with use. Then I would have eventually reached a day it didn't take me 90 minutes of foreplay to be able to comfortably have penetrative sex. But that day has never come.
I feel for you. My boyfriend and I are dealing with my vulvodynia and it majorly sucks.
Does vulvodynia have to do with the vagina being too tight? My sister dealt with this and from what she said the pain was caused because the muscles of her pelvic floor would spasm or clench or something upon attempting insertion. Or are there different kinds?
No, that is what vulvodynia is. The vagina is a muscle. Think about how your other muscles behave when you work out: they get “tighter” as you “clench” them. Vaginas work the same way. A tight vagina=a clenched vagina.
I'd love to ask him if his ass got looser from pooping.
Gauging does not work that way.
Right, you have to leave it in for a certain amount of time or it starts to heal and close. Does this person think women are walking around smuggling huge dildos for months at a time? I mean even then I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work like that, but this must be where they’re coming from??
Is he maybe worried that too firm a grip will shrink his penis? It’s like corseting right?!
Can confirm. My penis now has an amazing hourglass figure and looks great in a dress.
Yes because we can push babies out and still go back to normal but using a dildo will obviously stretch it out /s
They don't think we go back to normal after childbirth. They think childbirth ruins women. Lots of people, even otherwise decent people, even lots of women, believe that, unfortunately.
Something something "husband stitch" /shudder
I had that happen to me in 2010 after my first sons birth. The OB was an older woman and kind of an idiot. She lied about giving me an episiotomy and then stitched me up too far. Then because I didn't know any better she told me I was "healed up perfectly!" at my 6 week visit but it hurt to have sex for about 18 months. I also didn't have any female friends that I was close enough to talk to about that sort of thing and assumed that this was just how it was after having a baby. I finally asked some mom friends about it because we wanted to try having another baby and they were all horrified that I was experiencing pain for that long. Went to a new OB and he fixed me and we went on to have 3 more children and a normal sex life. It's incredibly unfortunate that women are still put through this shit in this day and age.
That is medical malpractice and she should not be allowed to be a doctor
I honestly would sue her and I'm definitely not the kind of person to get into legal actions. That seems so violating and she would have a case against her with the months of damages following it.
I got my medical records after his birth because it was wholly traumatic (I had a reaction to the epidural. If I understood what i read in the records correctly, they gave me too much in the line and then had to give me a drug that counteracts the effects of an anesthesia overdose, my blood pressure dropped and I passed out shortly after giving birth) and there is nothing in there about her giving me an episiotomy (but my husband saw her do it) or anything about stitching me too far, because why would there be? So basically it would have been extraordinarily difficult to prove that anything was done intentionally, against my will or against best practices. Basically it was my word against hers. Terrible yes, but ultimately too difficult to prove.
Wouldn't your new OB be able to prove or testify of this for you since she had to intervene :( ?
I'm sorry you had to go through this.
I really have no idea. It didnt occur to me at the time that this wasn't normal practice for OB/GYNs. I hadn't ever seen a different doctor. This practice was the only one I had ever been to for gynecological care. I didn't know that sometimes doctors are bullies and put their opinions in the way of evidence based care. I've healed from it though, mentally and emotionally. After my first I went on to have a wonderful natural birth with my second that was with a doctor who believed in the natural process of birth and who, more importantly, respected me as a person. My third birth was a c section with my twins and because I had a good relationship with my doctor I knew he had my and my babies best interest at heart when he told me I needed a c section. That birth was also healing because I was respected and listened to. All that to say, that yes you are right, she shouldn't be allowed to practice but unfortunately there are so many more doctors who have done worse things to women than what mine did. It's very unfortunate.
I don't know if my OB gave me a husband stitch or breastfeeding hormones just make it all terribly painful. Penetrative sex is not our friend at the moment.
Yup, truth. I got PM'd by some idiot recently ranting at me for just that.
Well tbh, it does feel a bit different afterwards. Everyone is different in how it affects them and healing. I had a second degree tear, so there's scarring, the entrance feels weird, but the inside almost the same. Hard to know until I stop breastfeeding what it will end up like.
After childbirth the vagina does loosen and after many children it is changed drastically. However a bit of care and kegel exercises do wonders and can have you back to just about normal in a few weeks.
It's more the muscles around it get weak, not the vagina itself, but that's from pregnancy, not the delivery method. Kegels are good for men and women. (Y)
ahhh I knew kegels worked on the muscles but I didn't know the damage was from the pregnancy. humans were really not built well were we?
My women's health physio likened it to having a bowling ball sit on your sling muscle for many months, meaning it's working hard non-stop. It will of course make it less efficient. Similar to holding your arm halfway with a dumbbell all day, your bicep will fatigue and not be particularly efficient. Though if you were to do bicep curls with that same weight and long bouts of rest in between, your bicep would get stronger.
I don't understand how things work, therefore everything I disagree with is magic.
Later he said it was fact women upgrade dildos to larger sizes, and when I asked for the study done for proof he replied
"As for a study you know damn well there isn't one just like there isn't one to support your feminazi magic vagina fantasy."
Ah yes, the tenderest cartilage
because elastic vaginal tissue and muscle is the same thing as earlobe cartilage! medical science!
Gauges will even close up after a while if you don't blow out the tissue/cartilage anyways so...
I just want to say that I've read "loser" so many times, when the writer meant "looser", that the correct spelling almost feels wrong.
To live with a living (and thus ever changing) language.
Weird comparing a vagina with a hole that wasn't supposed to be there.

Don’t you know vaginas are made by stabbing a sword into the smooth region of the lower pelvis?
lilyenfrasco 47 points · May 2018
That's why baby girls cry when they're born, because if their newly made vaginas.

Yes, and the rest of the babies cry because their penises have just been carved out of flesh with a chisel and a welder’s torch

fun fact: "vagina" is the latin word for "scabbard".
