Soggy_Stay6370

it’s the upshifts this time so you can’t complain

mxlila

He heard our complains about his downshift complains, and adjusted accordingly

Pan151

He shifted his complaints the other way.

myidispg

People caught on that the downshifts complaints might be code for something. So, he started complaining about the opposite

kron123456789

In 2023 it was "complains about the car - wins by 20 seconds". Just because he complains about the car doesn't mean he doesn't extract everything that car has.

Other_Beat8859

I think that's just what the best drivers are like. They can sense shit others can't. Hadjar talked about how there was a problem with the steering or something earlier in the season and he didn't notice it until Max pushed for the team to fix it despite them not noticing anything for a while and only then did Hadjar realize the problem. Drivers like Max and Lewis can just sense any tiny issue.

privateblanket

McLaren told a story about Raikkonen noticing a crack in the chassis, they tested it with machinery that they had at the track and couldn’t find it but Kimi insisted he could feel it when driving. When they sent the chassis back to the factory, they used more powerful machinery and picked up a hairline crack in the carbon fibre chassis. These tops drivers really are at one with their cars.

Roboticide

Yeah, I assume if he had a car he wasn't complaining about, he'd be more competitive for the championship.

kron123456789

In a car he doesn't complain about he would actually win every single race.

Routine_Cat_1366

Or would be uninterested in the outcome of the race.

BasKabelas

+Hadjar podium every race. By now no one is gonna convince me every 2nd RB driver is washed. Sure they are back of the front but if the car was actually that great an F1 driver should at least be competing for podiums and their 2nd driver is usually just competing to stay in the top 10 now.

OpTic_GoDJuNk

"Mate the car is undriveable " proceeds to set the fastest lap

giyomu

I miss the good old tyres are gone > instant purple lap

kell96kell

Imagine what he can do in a good car. I think with a good car he already won the Bahrein 2027 race

umhoefer

Lewis did this too, specifically his tires, won again and again. This is how the great ones do it.

fake_hester
PGRacer

Yep, "the upshifts are horrible" is the new "Bono my tires are gone".

-Moin-

*Downshifts

HopefulCarry9693

Yesterday he said upshifts and came in early, downshifts probably means extend the stint

HUMBUG652

Maybe it's code, downshifts mean all is fine but upshifts means the car is actually fucked

Either-Banana-7323

RB calls Max their most valuable "sensor" and data point. Him complaining leads to actual car advancement. Similarly I'm sure Lewis is/was doing the same thing, as was Schumi. Its an important ingredient to greatness.

Glittering-Promise78

The car can be fast but that doesnt mean the driver feels comfortable driving it

AssassinenMuffin

bono, my downshifts are gone

4GRJ

Notice how the one new team mate that actually manages to keep pace with him also complains a lot about the car

tumbleweed_092

But his radio worked. Search for positives.

NeppatsrevXam

Pit wall radio didn’t apparently, this time around

Naive_Risk8252

well at one point he couldn't hear his new race engineer Tom, so also kind of incorrect lol

cmatthewp

Part of me thinks this was Max trying to make Tom speak louder and more clearly. GP has a crisp, clear tone when on the radio. Tom seemed to lack confidence (perhaps intimidated) and spoke in a subdued tone.

I've also never heard Tom speak otherwise, so I could be completely off base!

tumbleweed_092

They could communicate. Max wasn't familiar with hearing Tom on the radio. When you are going around the corner at 250 km/h, speech legibility is a very important aspect as your mind is fully focued on driving.

--Snufkin--

Is that a positive if he's complaining?

tumbleweed_092

Uj/ Yes, that is. How else an engineer is gonna know that there is a problem? Your aversion to negativity is a negative trait in itself. There is a laundry list of arguments on why raising concerns in a vocal manner serves for better outcome. Don't be that shortsighted.

GrumpyFeloPR

Today? By luck

he was going to be pass by ham if it wasn't for bottas safety car

Unfair_Fact_8258

Have you considered that maybe he’s just a complainer?

akgis

If you arent complaining you are complacent!

LitterBoxServant

Hadjar learning from the goat

kron123456789

When he complained about the car in 2023 and we and Red Bull thought he was talking bollocks, in 2024 it became very apparent why he was complaining.

wolverineFan64

It’s actually hilarious how you people talk about the RB like it was ever some tractor. It was still the outright fastest through the first 5 races and then jointly fastest with the McLaren through most of the rest of the season. It really only fell off in the last 20% of the season and by that point Max had already largely locked up the championship.

RB fans wouldn’t know an actual slow car if it ran them over

Immediate-Spite-5905

...jointly fastest the rest of the season?! are we watching the same sport or are you daft?

Smirkeywz

" Introducing the Mc Bull MCB19 !!! "

wolverineFan64

This sub is so far up Max’s ass it’s genuinely hilarious. The Redbull was regularly winning races through late June and then still challenging for race wins late into the year. He even picked up a few wins at the tail end.

0 objectivity on this sub though. If Max isn’t in a rocketship then “he’s driving a tractor”. Once again, you people wouldn’t know a slow car if it ran you over.

The car only fell off in the last 20%ish of the season and was regularly in the mix for wins until then, but go on and keep pretending it was some dog. This sub is pure delusion

Unfair_Fact_8258

They’ll bring in the next bad driver that Max needs to get team ordered to get past, to show how slow the car really is

mastomi

Grow complainer not quitter

inbruges99

It’s the same with all the greats, they’re always pushing for better. Even in 2023 when he was winning by like 40 seconds he was complaining about issues, and it turned out he was right, as everyone else caught up those issues started to really stand out.

farren122

Have you considered that maybe, the best always seek perfection? Its normal to focus on details and want them to be fixed, unless you are braindead

MenopauseMedicine

This sub won't accept that, they're still on about Bono my tires are gone

BroadNotLady

My working theory is the more he bitches about the car, the better the result on Sunday, It's not a good sign when he complains and just goes quiet, because he knows he's fucked. On the other hand, if he's going on a total "do you want some cheese to go with your whine" rant, it usually means that he's got something to work with but wants more because he knows it's got potential.

StreetCarp665

I mean he was lucky due to the VSC but he's also less hysterical than Isack and the most Senna-like racing driver since Senna, and obviously by this I mean Bruno.

Individual-Subject19

he’s never happy cause things can always be better …

Secret-Ad-7909

Need a hyper car maker to give him and Newey 5 years and an unlimited budget to build whatever they want.

CrochetedHat

The type of kid who got upset after every exam but got an A anyway

blckhead423

If you ain't first you're last. Also if it wasn't for the VSC he's probably not on the podium

sneakypete6969

THE FUCKING UPSHIFTS ARE HORRIBLE

Spirited_Object_6160

He’s the guy to complain about things while doing it perfectly.

TheChosenWon246

Well he's doing that to actively give a feedback so that the team could improve his car. That's the difference between whining and complaining

memeatic_ape

Next Vettel except for the podium

M_e_n_n_o

Because he would have won if not for the problems

SnooFoxes3615

Will win 5 races in a row. And still complain about the car. That is because he does not compare against his competitors. (Irrellevant) he compares what he has, to what he needs in order for him to be able to drive the car the way he feels is right. Shifts can always be crisper. Power can always be smoother…and more of it in parts of the track where you can use it. Car balance. Responsivness. Feedback. Little details a lot of people won’t even notice at first until pointed out to then.

PM-ME_YOUR-ANYTHING

Loses a position

Driver of the day for some reason

Suihnennews

Didn't you see the overtake when Leclerc was trying to catch him. That might be the best move this season. His only chance to beat the Ferrari. In the end the Ferrari was faster so it was futile but he took his only option at exactly the right moment. Genius level 3000!

Outrageous_Word8656

This tells you everything about the average F1 redditor here.

Suihnennews

Yeah everything, you know it all

Ok_Monitor3715

Because he is a perfectionist. The car isn't bad, but not perfect either. Max isn't aiming for a podium, he wants to win, and so is red Bull. And for that a driver who complains and points out what can be improved is much more useful than a driver that only says thank you.

And Max has incredible high level of car sensitivity. Even in 2023 he said that there was something wrong with the car. Red Bull didn't believe him because kept winning and they didn't see in the measurement/simulations what he was describing. But in 2024 they had to admit that he was right

El_Mojo42

Because the car isn't actually bad.

Ok_Monitor3715

True, but it can be better

Avolto

Granted he got lucky this week but still he is that guy

TheAverageObject

There is always room for improvement

Cant say it is good because then you wont fix anything

Andy_Pandy98

It's like hamilton and tires all over

MaterialAsparagus336

Downshifts are for GP, Upshifts are for Tom. Definitely code words 😂

Spudsmad

Max complained because he wants a car that can be driven rather than be being nursed to a podium finish.if the car hadn’t had “ problems “ then he could well have been P1 !!!

BioDriver

Growing up I was always told that complaining doesn’t solve problems. Looks like my parents lied to me about that too

MuchExchange1813

Thats cuz of the vsc, lewis was 1.5 s quicker on the last lap, so if there was no vsc, he would overtake max.

choo-chew_chuu

People seem to quickly forget Hamilton's era "my tyres/transmission shot, please check"

..... Sets fastest lap

BastianHill

No no no it's the other way around: He gets a podium every weekend ,because he keeps complaining. Once he stops complaining, he's doomed. Really. Facts.

burt-and-ernie

Hadjar screaming on the radio like he’s under gunfire regardless of the car

DragGreedy6859

Because he is son of Jos. Honestly is relative. At least not assaulting cab-drivers.

urbanmember

Same category as:

"Worst Ferrari ever constructed."

  • battles for wdc until the very last laps of the final race
GreatDemonBaphomet

Max just likes being Hyperbolic

Rhinocacrocapig

Guys, I'm starting to think he's making it up

Foba_

Like yesterday? He was doing 0.5-1s slower laps than others because car being shit.

Happy_Butterscotch18

Yeah its like playing football with a soft ball.

Doesnt mean you cant score with it, but its better if it hard.

juan_bito

Cause hes a cry baby the car is super fast but still cries

GenuineWolf

He’s hard to like, but man he can drive!

Dbsusn

“It’s undrivable!” - Max

A lap later, fastest lap.

Either they have their own language for open radio and it’s all encoded in different words or he’s a petulant child. Granted, one of the best drivers ever. But damn does he bitch a lot for someone who does so well.

Nenonator

Oh god he came third...do we have to go for a whole week of glaze again.

Alanagurl69

VSC is how he did it. Driver of the day my arse.

Dimputer

Being a cry baby lmao.
Just remember „Bono my tyres are gone“ - gets fastest lap

farren122

Imagine thinking people that seek perfection and want all details to be improved are crybabies. You cant be more delusional

Dimputer

Thats why I said „lmao“. It was the comparison to Hamilton to always chase perfection to be successful

FourEaredFox

How does he constantly whine about the car?

UMakeMeMoisT

Because they pay him millions, for his very best. And he expects the very same from his team. And engineers. His own words btw

thundergu

Because he is extremely sensitive and feels problems before the data can pick them up. He isn't whining, he is rightly complaining about (mild) things that are off

FourEaredFox

It was a joke, this is formula dank. The "How does he do it" was clearly referencing his podiums...

Breathe sweetie.

thundergu
