He finally eats it, but oops

To get Firefly to stop trying to eat his bowl, Daughter finally picked up the sausage in the tongs. See, Firefly? Here’s the end of the sausage, easy to swallow this way… oh, you wanna eat it sideways instead? Really, now…

There really are no thoughts behind those eyes

External_Win3300

Orange is orange, be it scale or fur

LainSki-N-Surf

Can confirm, the Venn diagram of Orange pets with one braincell is just a plain orange circle 🟠

Kissabear666

They have to transfer braincells to each other

Kissabear666

Exactly, I am about to get an albino superconda. I fear he may be the same

aylesworth

And feather, our orange parrot rarely has a turn with the shared braincell :(

I’m just imagining dial up noise for most of this video 😂

Wii waiting room theme

NaviLouise42

r/OneOrangeBraincell material, despite the species mismatch.

Maleficent-Angle-891

That rule applies to both species. It's just orange cats are more common so have more exposure.

Intrepid_Sale_6312

also their bigger and have legs so their malfunctions are generally more impactful.

mouseisnotamouse

They’re

Intrepid_Sale_6312

I'm going to proceed to use the wrong one even more now. :)

Opposite_Eye9155

Their, they’re. Know knead too get two spicy hare.

Intrepid_Sale_6312

I know the difference, I just don't care enough.

and it's obvious they knew what I meant so correcting it is just being pedantic.

so now I will go out of my way to use the wrong one just to spite them.

Opposite_Eye9155

I’m just messing around too. 👍

To his credit, it was only for a moment that he started to eat it sideways. Daughter has the magic touch with those tongs.

October_people

Those first few seconds looked a little derpy but yay for finally noticing the food ☺️

Him waiting for the sausage to walk into his mouth

Kindly-Literature706

Does his one nostril have stuck shed covering it? Or do they have flaps like bearded dragons. The flap keeps dirt out while they burrow.

FeriQueen [OP]

That’s a little bit of shed that if it doesn’t come off in a day or two, we will probably help him with. He usually does pretty well on his own, despite the lack of any brain.

Sensitive_Scholar_17

He is really maybe the cutest snake ever.

FeriQueen [OP]

He is also possibly the sweetest hognose ever. He has hissed exactly once, has never pancaked or puffed up or played dead. He seems quite happy to be held and fussed over. And if you have the sound turned on for the video, you can hear in Daughter’s voice how she feels about him!😊

turkeyburpin

Our orange Reptilink eating moron is the same way. Every time he thinks my wife is near he comes out and trys to convince her that the right thing to do is to pay attention to him.

FeriQueen [OP]

Lol! Our late Grand Old Man, LittleBit, hissed and flared whenever a man came near: He wanted to make sure that everyone knew that he was the Man Of The House (tm). But a woman or girl… just the opposite. Loved to be handled. We should have named him Captain Kirk, because he never met a female life-form he didn’t like.

RevengeOfTheAyylmao

Just pure tv static between those eyes.

drrj

Awwww, the brain cell is nowhere in sight, is it. What a cutie.

What kind of food is this? My hognose doesn't wanna eat so I thought of trying this

icedcarfee

reptilinks!

FeriQueen [OP]

Also, sometimes they will accept a silverside (little feeder fish available in many pet stores) or a morsel of salmon, tuna, boiled egg, or raw chicken (many keepers cut up the heart for that purpose). You can also try braining a pinky or putting some packing water on it from canned fish (NOT oil-packed fish, the oil is bad for them).

Cat_Kn1t_Repeat

Confused compliance 🥺

3shotespresso247

People are scared of these?

FeriQueen [OP]

IKR?!!

mechshark

i had no idea they would eat human made food

FeriQueen [OP]

These little sausages are made especially for snakes. They are called Reptilinks. They are made of frogs, which are the favorite diet of hognoses in the wild.

odette_decrecy

That is so cute and perfect!!! I live in Colorado, US so I can’t legally own a captive bred hognose without a special permit, but the frogloaf is just so perfect!

bs8194

No effort to strike. Slowly noms his way on 😭😭 truly no thoughts at all

daskeyx0

Oh sweet derpy Firefly🤭

macmonchichi

those lips 👄

Kindly-Literature706

I love his name!

lifes_sucks

Please tell firefly that they are so cute

nikki-cole-

What are you feeding him

icedcarfee

reptilinks!

Tractor_Goth

Why does he look like a snake version of a foo dog, I’m crying

Upper_Importance6263

Firefly is just as adorable as the love your daughter has for him. Hearing her laugh filled my heart with joy. As a mother, this entire video is the most heartwarming thing I’ve seen today haha.

Not a single thought behind those eyes

visualdreaming

He looks so dumb i love him so much I could cry 😭

Historical-Error-311

Hi,what is he eating? I'm expecting my first hognosed snake, so I still have a lot of stupid questions:)

FeriQueen [OP]

Not a stupid question at all. These are Reptilinks. The ones here are frog; I’m told that by themselves they don’t provide complete nutrition, and that I should vary them with the quail-and-frog blend ones, or with other foods. We also feed him fuzzy mice, silversides (feeder fish available at many pet stores), salmon, and occasionally boiled egg. Many keepers use chicken hearts as well.

Historical-Error-311

wow! in our country snake owners feed their pets only frozen mice. glad that I joined the group, because I learn a lot of completely new information. and I really want to raise a healthy snake, so the variety of food is very relevant information. thank you very much!!! this little cutie will be able to move to a new home in the fall, so I want to find out more information before then. I already have a ball python and a corn snake, but these babies are new to me and seem more sensitive. but you inspired me to also visit groups about other my snakes, maybe I'll find out information there that we don't practice. thank you very much🙏

Basic-Gear-1469

What are those things you are feeding your hoggy?

FeriQueen [OP]
Lord-Generias

He's a bit of an odd one, but he got there in the end.

Senaspider

Bro, Brian is working at 2 bits a second.

KronosMarch

I swear I heard my own thoughts echo slightly when i looked into his eyes.

BrilliantIdea101

No thoughts noodle <3

livinlikelarreh

I’d love to get a hog nose someday. Aren’t they venomous but their venom is so weak that it doesn’t affect humans are something like that?

FeriQueen [OP]

That’s right. Their venom is prey-specific rather than defensive. I have been bitten twice by my hognose snakes. Once was a dry bite, no venom. The second time, though, I was envenomated. Neither bite actually hurt, but the second one did cause my thumb to tingle for about 6 hours.

A very few people are allergic to their venom, though, and for those people medical attention is needed.

livinlikelarreh

Thank you for the reply. I currently have 5 cats and a dog, once they all go, I'm debating on getting some kind of reptile, bird or some fish. Hognose snake is definitely up there in a want, though. lol
