True Color?

My husband saw this in a store and bought it for me. He knows that I want different colors and thought it was a color that we haven’t seen before. It reminds us of an iris. Hopefully, this is its true color and not dyed…..RIGHT? !

True. With those dyed ones you can usually find a sealed wound somewhere around the base of the spike.

Thanks, I need to look at the dyed ones in the store to find what you are talking about so that I know what to look for. Of course, a blue orchid flower is fairly obvious that it’s dyed.

Also, with a dyed orchid you would not see different patterns in the petals such as that. The flower and the lip would be the same color and it would be solid.

That’s good news because I do like it.

Well, congrats! That's one amazing phal you have

MentalPlectrum

True colour, potentially one of the Sogo varieties, but very difficult to ID phals without labels.

Where is everyone getting these purple phals??? Jealous

Kroger 😦

People who dye flowers wish they could get them to look anywhere near this good. The fade, the alternating colour pattern and intensity between the petals, that's all real genetics.

That’s a pretty sogo-something purple!

Give me some pointers; I can’t see it but want to.

The large dark bit is the mouth and the ones above are the eyes.

Ohhhh, I followed your instructions but couldn’t see it… UNTIL I DID. I see it so clearly now, and as ‘Sweet-Tell1480’ said…now, that’s all I see. Thanks

Very cute! Indeed, a true color. These little gems are often referred to as multifloral phals. I would have grabbed that baby!
