Hey in Kakyoin's defense he was genuinely fucking goated in managing to barely survive the evil water stand glug and came back with a cool pair of Snazzy Shades.

Also Bruno is an incredibly special case and god I fucking love him and his stand STICKY FINGAAAAZZZ so much man.

Bruno's archetype is so cool, and it's different because unlike other similar versions where the (unfortunately no more vagueness so this is spoiler) Oh noo, you're living on borrowed time trope doesn't matter because we usually solve the conflict before said time runs out...

but Bruno's time runs out before the story ends, and holy shit it's depressing to see The fearless leader of Passione being reduced to a blind, barely walking corpse only living through sheer willpower is both parts sad and badass. It's really refreshing when compared to "gasp, this deadly attack makes you more dead!" and it's usually gets glossed over but it doesn't in Jojo...

Fuck man I love Bruno and his Stand so much, he's genuinely one of the top jojo characters for me.

Though to be fair Ascending throws game balance out of the window, most of the terrible items become good and the good items become amazing. Ascending isn't a really a good way to gauge an item's effectiveness since by that point everything snowballed too hard you can't even make out what's in the snowball anymore.
