What’s with all the whooping?! It’s not exactly exciting or innovative to spill some paint on people.
That's hot
I hate the art world so much.
You say that because you haven't come up with a performance art piece to exploit it
I know.
That is exactly true.
I’ve done art shows all over the world.
Put hundreds of hours into paintings, only to be mogged by a banana taped to the wall.
I'm with you. I'm writing a screenplay that does a whole tongue in cheek deconstion of superhero fatigue and I get overlooked for Oscar grab performance art pieces. I'm about to just do a viral campaign and do it myself
Do it.
Oh, I totally am. I even thought about doing a viral campaign with in movie ads posted around cities out of context. There's shit like a family photo in a pizza parlor with an Italian family but the twins look like classic 1950's goons with postboy hats, suspenders and domino masks with white eyes. Shit that'll catch people's eyes and be like "The fuck is that?"
Excellent.
I don’t understand this type of performance art or whatever it is. The sand buckets, this, there’s a few others but yeah
That’s not art, that’s entertainment.
Why? You’re not forced to like this.
Thus them saying they hate it??
“Art world” is not only this type of art and I’m sure op likes a lot of arts and artists. He could have said I hate this type of art so much instead. There are definitely some controversial shit out there.
art like this overlooks pieces done by real artist
It’s not art.
What a lot of 💩
I have been in and around the art scenes ever since I was born...and still do not understand performance art with paint.
They thinks it's gonna be a Sherwin, but to me it's un-Behr-ably lame.
You clearly don't understand the Duluxury of color.
This is the same guy who knocked over a stack of buckets filled with sand and people applauded
There's only one work of art here and it was already made before the paint part
Correct, it was made by a woman
Got paint on that hotel carpetting.
The shit that passes as "art" these days lmao 🤡
Every hack is a misunderstood artist.
Imagine not putting something down to protect the carpet
Lame
Why are people cheering? I could do this with a couple minutes to prepare lol.
Edit: autocorrect put cheating instead of cheering.
It's modern art. It's all about who you are and not really talent.
He also ran out of paint by the last person, art really is in the Eye of the Moron
I'll take that bet. How many minutes do you think you'll need? You said a "few" minutes, so like 5 minutes?
Probably three minutes. Enough to feel how much it weighs, the center of balance, you know, basic stuff you would do before you try something new.
So you'll be able to get a rack to pour the paint, prepare a canvas, line up 3 people willing to get paint poured on them, arrange them on a canvas, then get the paint rigged up on the rack, and pour it, all within 3 minutes?
I can pour paint in three minutes. That’s what I said and I stand by it.
That's not what you said. You said "I could do this with a couple minutes to prepare lol". "This" isn't just pouring paint, it's all the prep work too. The video is just the end result after all the actual work.
You said you can "do this" (your words) in 120 seconds.
I'm still willing to bet money on it. We can get on a zoom call and start a 3 minute timer. You can find a canvas that big, prepare it, find 3 people willing to do it, get them all in the same room together and position them, procure something to hold the paint and all the paint itself (there's probably 30 different paints there). Once it's all setup, pour the paint which finishes the piece.
Edit: I forgot, you have to get the people off the canvas without fucking up the lines.
To the idiots in the crowd..."oh please"
“I went to the TJMaxx school of Motel Art”
I mean i can do that too...
Do you have that "One idea" that you think is your golden ticket? Do it. It can't be any dumber than this. I just recently figured out mine and I'm working my ass off to make it happen.
The art world and religious nuts should all get together and do some weird shit.
I mean it kinda looks like it's being done in a church too.
They pretty much already do
At least the artists aren't hurting anyone
It's funny how the most obnoxious part is the context and setting. If this was just an artist making a neat thing in his apartment and filming it for a video I wouldn't mind it at all. But the audience present, the fact that a public gathering was arranged for this at all, and his little flair at the end like "are you proud of me?" makes me want to slap him.
Yup. These communities and the people in them are absolutely insufferable.
This is absurd
This is the adult version of when young kid makes you watch them do something and it's like the dumbest thing ever but they were super proud to show you.
AND WHY IS THE CARPET WET, TODD?!
What kind of bullshit is this?
A week ago i was looking at the statue of David and thinking wow how can some one do this all those years ago and was genuinely impressed at it and then there is this type of art. I don’t want to be that guy but i see this and don’t get it.
And I get shit on for playing video games
God was the real artist here
"Art"
Derivative
I love to glaze the cake, it feels much better
I understand some modern art, like when the artist is making a provocative statement about society or some shit...
This though... I do not get it at all.
Thats a nice pedorro
At least he's entertaining Gibbons, how kind of him! 🤣
what idiots in this life and world call this art?
I prefer to plaster the 🎂 instead. Have something to actually put up on the wall after.
Woah!! That's so dumb...
Why is he stopping above the first girls head? And this prof is not even managing to have enough paint left for the last girl?
Here's the whole piece, he did manage to cover the entire thing: https://simonbullart.com/blogs/news/simon-bull-at-pourcon
That actually looks pretty cool ngl lol
Yup, actually way cooler that I thought because I didn't even think it was to create a silhouette, and thought painting the models was the point. Looks way cooler in its final form, although I wonder what their bodysuits looked like when they stood up. Might also be kinda neat
Eu desprezo a arte moderna.
I've made similar art. In white
More like retard painting
So talented
Paking
This is the most boomer bs “art” I’ve ever seen still upvoting for the butt.
The kinda bullshit you come up with if you run out of talent and ideas and simultaniously like to look at cake
So a lot of "this is art now". Its not. Its a clever way to abuse the tax system for rich people. For instance, some rich dude comes to this guy and says "I need to bleed 1 million before the end of the year to avoid taxes all together. Why dont i commission you for an eccentric piece of art, but i dont want some bullshit to hang in my house, probably have to insure it, blah blah blah. Can you come up with something? I'll gove you 500k and you can take some pictures with a camera and we can assign it to an art gallery for a month and then everyone will forget about it." And yeah, that dude says yes to 500k and then the assignment to an art gallery bleeds another 500k as they "donate" their new piece of art etc etc. As for all the people who oooo and ahhh at this stuff... they are lost and truly think this is innovative.
Yay rich people.
Whenever I see a pretentious, yet mundane performance art piece like this, I think about how everyone has that one idea. You know what I mean, that big dream, invention, movie, game etc that they think could be their golden ticket. Some of our ideas are stupid as fuck, but they wind up being successful because they had the motivation to get out there and get it done. If they can make it by pushing stuff like this, what's stopping the rest of us from getting our better ideas out there?
i think a shot from top would be cool
"Lazy Art" - not because they are laying down
So this is art huh?
There is nothing in this video that deserves a woooo.
Not how I'd drizzle that cake, but art is subjective
When I see stuff like this, it makes me realize that the screenplay I'm writing actually isn't that bad
Great now the carpet is ruined
