It's honestly insane how impactful and iconic Trauma team is to the setting despite only showing up once in the game

They also show up in the anime twice and have a comic but in total they are less relevant than practically every other faction

Listen up, samurai. If you’ve had enough of scrolling through the same tired threads and wanna plug into something #real, jack into the official Discord. We’ve got games, serious talks and casual chats about Cyberpunk 2077, and a few rooms where you can just shoot the breeze with people who get it. You in, or you just gonna #stand there looking chrome?

FungusForge

Having to factor in possible Trauma Team response in gigs would've been amazing tbh.

CarnageCoon

during a number of gigs we have the option or even the objective to flatline people who absolutely have trauma team contracts
headcanon says V is simply gone when they arrive but it would be neat if TT would pop up when you take too long "ah might loot that aswell and read every mail"

Umikaloo

Or having to somehow kidnap someone without injuring them in a way that would trigger trauma team.

FungusForge

Jamming quickhacks or needing shards like the Scavs used on Sandra Dorsett to slot into targets in a stealth grapple.

MrVermin

On a few gigs, the fixers will say that they have a runner handling security. Probably blocking the signal that would get sent to trauma team.

MaxSirXem

Recently one of the mods introduced that idea and it's such a great bonus to some missions. I think it came from "Much Better Netrunning"

Craz3y1van

That’s on thing I loved about RDR2. If you waited to long after a fight looting, you were gonna have a whole lot of problems with the law.

Greendiamond_16

Lore accurate TT has an average response time under 5 minutes for the top paying cuatomers. They have active patrol teams in most major areas to fulfill this goal. In the tabletop games I ran having to get out in time or face the wrath of TT was a common thread.

T_S_Anders

Trauma Team should have been like a Maxtac level threat for certain missions. Like you can try and avoid a response through hacking or try to finish the object and escape before they get there.

Grundlestorm

Seriously.

Like having to be really damned careful dealing with Corpos who may have active TT memberships would make a huge difference in how we deal with different situations.

Gangoons on the street?  Go full guns blazing if you want, take your time looting.  No one gives a third of a leprous rats ass about them.

Kidnapping or killing a wealthy corpo? Best make sure you go undetected until after you have already fully cleared an exit path, done everything else needed, and then get the fuck out, now as soon as the target is dealt with.

Unless you have the means to jam the signal/their biomon.  Maybe you can hack it with a cyber deck, or be able to do a "takedown" using a shard like the one Sandra had used on her that you need to obtain somewhere.

the_gaffinator

The TTRPG has a mechanic for this. It also changes how you approach the mission or combat: should you bumrush the target and risk getting caught up with his goons while TT is on there way, or do you meticulously eliminate all the little guys first and risk injury before taking on the big bad

xXLoneLoboXx

I really wish we could’ve seen the result of King going cyberpsycho in the anime, MaxTac was out to flatline him, Trauma Team was out to save him… Did they fight each other? How did Trauma Team bring King down to take him in alive?

Would’ve answered so many interesting questions but sadly they just skipped over it.

Really hope we get a Trauma Team/MaxTac themed update next letting us join the two and giving them a bigger presence in game. (+more lore)

StormyBlueLotus

TT is generally allowed to do what their contracts call for by every major Corp and even a fair amount of Gangs, because if you fuck with TT, they won't service you. Even MaxTac has TT coverage, so MaxTac wouldn't fight TT if they showed up to save someone going Psycho.

LoudDig3039

Max tac obviously fucked him up enough that trauma team got called. Keep in mind that max tac recruits from cyberpyschos, so it's likely that they don't tend to kill them outright anyway, and let trauma team save them so they can hire them later.

iliketittieslmao

I know there's a mod that adds it, but I can't remember which one (maybe enemies of night city?) they tend to arrive when you kill the bosses from the organised crimes. They even got me after killing Shobo once. They're easily Maxtac level enemies, not to be underestimated

FatFarter69

I just think the concept of Trauma Team is a really interesting one. The American healthcare system on steroids.

Abigboi_

Trauma Team would be a reality if it wasn't for the EMTALA

kutyadantesz

PriorityEvac is something along those lines.

Goodie_20

Think coolness of them comes form then being solider medics which just sounds inherently cool and the uniform too, be awesome if we got a spinoff around them like people have mentioned before, or something I think would be cool if in Orion you could have a TT origin.

Also spoilers for edgerunners 2: It’s crazy they got to Kingsley before Maxtac did, guess platinum really is worth the money, ignoring what happened after

TardDas

I think the coolest thing about TT in Edgerunners 2 is that MaxTac actively avoided picking a fight with them. I don't think TT could take MaxTac but it still speaks to how fierce they are

BillSteelman

From what I understand from the Lore, Corporation and NCPD tends to avoid picking fight with TT not because they wouldn't win (I mean MaxTac vs TT is not even close to a fair match up), but because most high ranking members of those organizations have a TT subscription that TT would disrupt if messed with.

TardDas

That and if a MaxTac member has a TT policy then Trauma gets reinforcements

schulz100

Nah, see, that's how you get the bleakest Abbot and Costello skit ever. When a corrupt NCPD MAXTAC officer ALSO has high end TT coverage and they show up guns blazing.

"Why are you guys shooting at us!?"

"You're trying to kill our client!"

"WHY DO YOU THINK WE'RE HERE?!"

BillSteelman

While not impossible, I would not suppose MaxTac troopers can afford a TT sub. They're unlikely to get hurt in most case anyway.

Note I have no idea how much being MaxTAc pays but given most of the troopers were ex cyberpsychos that coudl have been killed, I'd guess they don't get paid all that much.

StormyBlueLotus

NCPD as a whole doesn't have coverage for regular officers, but even individual officers commonly have TT (certainly not Platinum but the lower tiers). MaxTac absolutely all have TT, not because they pay out of pocket, but because their gear and Cyberware is crazy expensive, and because there are a limited amount of people who can work as MaxTac operators, so they do their best to keep them alive because every single MaxTac member represents a massive investment and is difficult to replace on top of that.

No-Consequence-9296

It’s probably less about the MaxTac operator’s salary and more about their value to the corp which is the NCPD/Militech/whoever else has their fingers in that particular pie. They wouldn’t be paying for the TT sub themselves, but rather have it “provided” as part of their benefits package (aka to be removed whenever the hell the corp wants)

grantedtoast

Their employer can afford it through and both the cyberware and the high functioning cyber psychos able to use it are extremely valuable.

TheBlackestCrow

Considering the spoiler I will keep it a bit vague but I really want to imagine what would happen if those two factions meet each other.

Is it like a first come rule because I don't think those two would engage each other?

Thiccxen

Trauma is top-tier, but maxtac would not let them get past. Bloodbath may ensue if the client was a super-high-level corpo. Still, I think maxtac takes the win there

jubmille2000

Wasn't the response time for Sandra Dorsett like 180s. That's hella fast.

Although, I mean you'd think maxtac would come a-running if there's a cyberpsycho shooting up an arasaka bldg, but ehhhh

Alpharius_Omegon420

They show up in a random encounter fighting a gang. If you help them, one of them will send you a thank you text a few days later.

Also if you get the top score in trauma drama you get a mini AV for your mega building apartment and a uniform

Delfmonkey

I want it so bad but couldn’t beat the Highscore

Hot-Beginning-691

Wait like the full fit? Always wanted their helmet.

Alpharius_Omegon420
Hot-Beginning-691

Hell yeah. To bad i quit trying mini game. Just to difficult for me to get that score

Hot-Beginning-691

Hopefully a mod will eventually come to console for it. Prob my fav of the "corp" fits

Sum1nne

Something I think would be really cool for a sort of throwaway, just for fun Cyberpunk game is to play as Trauma Team having to rescue clients.

An objective based horde shooter, somewhere between Deep Rock Galactic and Ready or Not maybe. Multiplayer where you have to sign up as a Solo, MedTech, Pilot/techie, and Runner. Get an alert, get to the clients location ASAP, gun your way through whatever nonsense they're caught up in, provide emergency life saving care, and then exfiltrate the client back to the Trauma Centre safely.

Bonus points/cash for speed and survival rates of the client which you use to pay for cyberware upgrades. Even has a built in difficulty system with the silver/gold/platinum insurance tiers, going from people getting caught in street fights or mundane injuries all the way up to raiding scav dens and deep gang turf or corpo warehouses.

Remarkable-Site-2067

There is that TT game machine within the game itself. Quite fun, actually.

But yes, a full DLC or some other spinoff would be awesome, too. Or even a few more gigs, apart from that tutorial one.

Glyphid-Menace

wait there's a Trauma Team arcade game?? IN-GAME???

I've heard enough, im starting a new playthrough

Grenthy

There's a prize if you get the top high score, just like the Roach arcade game.

Would be a cool Rainbow six style multiplayer game. Trauma team hostage rescue vs maelstrom or something

skrott404

They were iconic to the setting long before 2077

heurekas

People really forget that there's a nearly 4-decades old RPG tied to the franchise.

Or they don't read the splash screen if the game was their first entry into the franchise, where it clearly states that Pondsmith created and owns the universe.

thepeakof06

I started my third playthrough and it was my first time playing on very hard(I did hard first two times) and I was dashing around the map and accidentally walked through their perimeter. They fucking melted me before I could even quick hack. Don't mess with trauma team lol

A_Snow_Mexican

TT feels like the closest thing to good guys in the game. It's still a premium service for the few but they do the best for their clients. NCPD corrupt as hell, MaxTax are cyberpyscho and TT is out there rescuing people and looking badass. Edit: Okay, I have to acknowledge that TT has been linked to organ/cyberware harvesting. So, not so good guys afterall.

Doot-Eternal

I mean TT still does some shady shit at the end of the day for money. I'd say the least morally corrupt corp. would be netwatch. Like yeah they're ruthless and will fry anyone who gets in their way but in their defence they have a pretty good fucken reason considering there seems to be a lot of idiots in the world that are plenty happy to poke the only thing protecting the world from cyber-hell

dave8400

I have a feeling that the next game will feature netwatch heavily. Everything about the origin of the Blackwall is sus as all f. I suspect they will be front and center in the fifth corporate war.

Melody-Shift

I wonder what their deal with the Blackwall was. What could you give an AI for it to play guard dog for decades?

salty-ravioli

Could very well just be an AI that just likes maintaining the barrier between the old and new nets, either because it just wants to (surely there's some AIs out there that are benevolent) or because it was designed to like it. The Rogue AIs were corporate superintelligences let loose, after all. These corporations should know how to create another one.

Scary_Cup6322

The desire to play guard dog for decades?

Aren't most rogue ais either insane thanks to bartmoss or military in nature?

Ai doesn't seem inherently rebellious in the cyberpunk universe. It's very much due to human actors that dangerous ai exists.

GarlicStreet3237

Reminder they murdered hundreds/ thousands of netrunners when they first deployed the black wall, purposely keeping them in cyberspace stuck with the rogue AIs

Doot-Eternal

Oh shit I didn't know that. Was it like a "we don't have time to get them out' kinda thing or did they just not care

GarlicStreet3237

What Netwatch does is beneficial for humanity, but it's also good for them- they have (currently) unprecedented control over the net. They removed as many runners as possible to help stabilize their control.

It's an interesting case of them being absolutely necessary, and also still being a dirty corp

ryes13

There’s a broadcast on the radio about how if you run late on payments TT will basically kidnap you, take your more valuable implants, give you shit implants, and still keep you on a payment plan for those shit implants

A_Snow_Mexican

Damn, I heard something similar in that added quest with the Nightcorp tour. They're basically scavs when it comes to their debtors. If it weren't for the other corps being so shitty, I'd take back my og comment.

TravisVZ

Just last night I completed an "organized crime" spot where TT was selling body parts (I presume of the technological rather than biological variety) to one of the gangs (I honestly didn't pay attention to which one). Not sure if a stealthier approach would have let me closer to TT, but I messed up and had to go loud to finish the last two and saw TT taking off before I got near them.

But selling parts to gangs doesn't sound like "good guys" in my book...

mattheb1

Trauma team are pretty corrupt as well. There's a radio broadcast talking about how if you're in debt to them they'll send people in the night to harvest your organs and cyberware and replace them with cheap knockoffs

Limonade6

One of my favorite people of NC. I hope they come back with more screen time in project Orion.

ChiefWiggumsprogeny

You could do ambulance and taxi missions in GTA 4? - it would be cool to be able to do randomly generated Trauma Team, NCPD and MaxTac missions. When everything is done I mostly cosplay as some kind of "Judge Dredd" vigilante NCPD character trying to clean the streets (by wiping out all gang members I see). There is a lore element of an armoured cab company (run by 6th st) - that would be cool too.

Ash_Crow

They appear more than once in the game.

Apart from The Rescue in the prologue, they are also in a few gigs, and randomly on the map where they can land in some places to take someone.

TheDreadPirateBonnet

I think they show up in the mission where V and River track down the abducted kids at the farm too. They medevac the surviving kids away from the farm at the end of the mission.

P1st0l

Question, for anyone who may know or could educate me. Just watched S2 Edgerunners, and a small spoiler, they are mentioned quite a few times and the characters are always so in shock or scared. What exactly makes Trauma team scary? From what we have seen aren't they just regular dudes in tactical gear? Or am i missing something, why are they seen as super scary or worth bugging out for. Especially when you compare them to Maxtec who seem like the superior troops for lack of a better word.

Edit: thank you for all the informative replies, woke up to a lot of messages lol, i feel like I've got a better understanding of it.

Minnesota_Bohemian

TT will slime you out without hesitation if youre messing with their patient. Imagine a swat team that are also paramedics. Not maxtac level, but good enough where they dont really want to fight each other.

Plane-Education4750

They fight off Maxtac in the show

Minnesota_Bohemian

My impression was it was more of a standoff

Greentaboo

King lost his house to pay it off. Trauma and Maxtac absolutely fought.

Depending on your membership premium, Trauma charges you for ammo and other expenditures used while they rescue you.

EmbraceCataclysm

Hey if a bunch of Paramedics are even capable of getting into a firefight and surviving MaxTac, let alone it ending in a stand off thats pretty impressive

Plane-Education4750

It had to be a firefight, because King was the patient

mattheb1

I don't think they actually fought maxtac. Maxtac weren't allowed to fight them and had to let them take king away because picking a fight with trauma team would be against their corporate interests. Trauma team aren't as strong as maxtac it's just a bad idea to fight them because they're so deeply embedded into the corporate power structure

walkingreverie

Not to mention TT is technically a Monopoly

They’re literally the sole medical provider in Night City for the people who can pay for it not named a Ripperdoc

Cause good luck getting patched up at Night City Medical when there’s probably 40+ people ahead of you with the same bullet wounds, cuts, stabs, and blows off limbs

AnsgarWolfsong

In brief: 1) they are well equipped and implanted, and they are capable at a level that allowed them to operate in open battlefields ( in the latest ttrpg they are considered pretty high in the difficulty rating)

2)they service every single big corporation, and then some, you don't wanna mess with the insurance policy of Arasaka and Militech

3) the AV they go around in ( the flying car) it's a military grade arnored vehicle with heavy machine gun underneath. unless you are a tank or a big borg they're going to fuck you up.

4) they mind their business as long as they can do their job, why make yourself extra trouble? Just let the go.

5)In the videogame you see the average 6 man team that operates usually in the city, but they also have bigger, heavier and nastier squads whose sole purpose is to level anything too big to prevent the base squad to do their job ( don't quote me on this last point, it has been a while since I read the lore)

Ghostofman

I'd also assume that you want to keep on their good side. Don't want to be dropped or declined because they remember that time you smoked some of their doods.

load 1 more replies →

Due-Ingenuity9803

Trauma is roughly as heavily armed as the folks that you fight at around 3/4 stars in-game. You saw in the prologue for 2077? You were holding their patient and they had like 3 guns trained on you. They’re scary because it’s like if an ambulance arrived in 3-7 minutes with an armed SWAT team.

BillSteelman

They are not as dangerous as a MaxTac squad, but TT will send as many men as it takes to secure platinum clients, and will get NCPD involved, which can escalate to MaxTac.

Zestyclose_Oil7229

They are confirmed equal by many pieces of lore including in s2 of edgerunners they literally square off against maxtac and its a equal battle

BillSteelman

Lore I looked at is pretty much opposed to that idea. It's unclear how TT secured King from MaxTac (tho we know most Corps and NCPD will generally not interfere with TT), but no TT and MaxTac operators are not at all equal.

ionix34

they could have just thrown a shit tons of bodies at MaxTac and held them off long enough to get King out

Or they simply came to an agreement and MaxTac let TT take king

BillSteelman

That's is quite possible if King had platinum, and I think I remember he had.

But my best guest is MaxTAc let it go once they incapacitated King and TT claimed it, because you don't pick fight withh TT. Your higher-ups love their coverage and intend to keep it.

ionix34

yeah what I guessed too, they let him go

engaging TT isnt worth it too much politics

Plagueofzombies

Trauma Team will happily take the shortest route between them, and their subject. They get pretty much carte blanch to go through anything, or anyone in their way with little more than a small warning. Anyone, or anything that may harm their patient any more than they already are is considered disposable (depending on your plan I guess)

AlternativeEmphasis

They're exceptionally well equipped and will shoot you.

Depending on the cover you will also get better equipped support.

In S1 of Edgerunners we see Trauma team running during Maine going Cyber psycho

But in S2 of Edgerunners we see them throw down with MaxTac to extract a patient who has gone Cyberpsycho who has platinum coverage. (And they do it fwiw.)

CreativityAtLast

Iirc, trauma team immediately leaves the scene with Maine because they realize the patient is already dead and they have no obligation to die there anymore, hence why they say to call in maxtach and gtfo lol

Raket0st

Imagine a bunch of cybered out, geared up ex-special forces dudes who's first and only priority is getting their patient out alive and are cleared to exercise any amount of force necessary to do so.

Ivar2006

TT is notoriously trigger happy

Moomahs

They are basically maxtac but to save u (n without the cyberpsychos) hell in episode 1 of s2 a mc gets saved from maxtac by trauma team. They are annoying for jobs too since tt will be called if there clients vitals get too far out of whack

load 6 more replies →

Crows_reading_books

The problem with TT (and Maxtac) is that on paper they should be huge fucking threats until near the end (when V can take on Smasher and win) and game-V can usually take them.

Shikabane_Sumi-me

Imagine multiplayer spin off game where you're Trauma Team. You gotta reach the patient and evac them ASAP while fighting off gangs and mercs.

Inside-Potential-479

Lol will the game make us leave a child behind because he’s not covered by his plan? :/

Yeetmymeat_

Would love a trauma team spinoff game it would be so cool

MarilynWhiteIntense

if you think they only show up once, you haven't survived long enough on the streets to see a real corpo shootout. open your eyes before the street claims you.

ApprehensivePilot3

I kinda expected them to be your "revive" when you flatlined like in GTA (I had this thought before I knew played the whole game on release).

Kamahl25

The amount of juice they have is crazy. Being able to tell max tac to fuck off is impressive

Khoakuma

The first time I saw Trauma Team in game I thought “why are these medic guys such giant assholes”. Then I read up on their lore and yeah it makes perfect sense. They were very much neutral during the corpo wars, but the corpo wars was so brutal a lot of them got caught in the crossfire and ended up dead. With medical resource and personnel stretched so thin they had no choice but to militarize. In some ways they are less of a scam than IRL American healthcare because they actually have to fund a paramilitary group on top of providing health service lol.

WideDescription7653

More than once btw….

akselmonrose

They show up more than once. You can find a whole bunch of them fighting of Tyger Claws. Also some of them are I wanna say near those curvy roads towards the dam.

Plane-Education4750

They show up more than once. You have to look for them tho

firefI0wer

They don't just show up once though
